On Friday 10th September, just prior to the Heritage Transport Weekend the South Devon Railway held a "Heavy Haul" day whereby all trains were hauled by former GWR 2-8-0 locomotives namely the SDR's own 3803 and the Bodmin and Wenford's 4247 2-8-0 tank engine.

This is the first time this class has been used to haul trains on the branch because 5239 was prevented from doing so in Dart Valley days due to Nursery Pool Bridge not being strong enough.
