Our Models and Miniatures weekend features something for everybody, from the young to the young at heart.
- Bigger and better!
- Miniature Traction Engines with other model road vehicles
- Model Boats
- Scale model locomotives
- Miniature railway operating with a visiting locomotive and two rains running – subject to weather
- Garden Railway – subject to weather
- Large indoor displays at Staverton
- Intensive railway timetable – two trains plus Staverton shuttle
There are displays and exhibitions at each station along the railway so use the train to make sure you see everything!
This year we have expanded our displays at Staverton with an indoor exhibition area close to the station where you will find award winning model railway layouts along with other UK and continental layouts. If that wasn’t enough there will also be a display of model lifeboats and fishing boats and a display by members of Brixham Model Engineers.
At Staverton Station itself there will be a display of 0 gauge clockwork and electric railways and of course the Buffet coach will be open providing teas coffees and light refreshments.
Totnes Riverside station will be home to displays of model buses and trains and also the collection of 0 gauge models which are permanently based there.
At Buckfastleigh, the garden railway and miniature railway will both be in operation (weather permitting), with a visiting engine and two train running on the miniature railway. There will be scale model traction engines moving around the site and Plymouth Model Boat Engineers will again be displaying their fabulous scale models. Hopefully there will also be a display of model aircraft and helicopters. Whilst at Buckfastleigh, why not visit South Devon Railway Gifts and Models and make a few extra additions for your layout or collection?
Parking at Staverton is strictly limited, so if you are coming by car, head for the large free car park at Buckfastleigh and take the train to tour the different displays. Our normal train fares will apply and will entitle you to travel on our services all day and give unlimited access to the exhibits.
There will be a bucket for donations at our main exhibition site at Staverton and all proceeds will be in aid of the chosen charity of KJ Thulborn who have kindly allowed the use of their facilities.
