“CAROLS DOWN THE LINE” on the South Devon Railway Coordinated by Paignton (Palace Avenue) Methodist Church

You will be aware that for many years ‘Carols Down the Line’ has been a major fund raising event hosted by the South Devon Railway and coordinated by a local church. Over the years many thousands of pounds have been raised for charities and good causes through the efforts of the local church and volunteers of the South Devon Railway Association.

The dates for this year’s ‘Carols Down the Line’ Tuesday 04 December, Wednesday 05 December and Thursday 06 December – trains are scheduled to depart from Buckfastleigh at 19.30 each evening and we invite you to join us for an evening of steam and carol nostalgia (seats need to be reserved in advance). The cost is £9.00 per person for which travellers will also be served tea/coffee and a hot mince pie as we travel to Totnes (Littlehempston) where we alight to sing carols under the station canopy accompanied by the Salvation Army or Totnes Town Band. On re-boarding the train we travel to Staverton where again we alight to sing carols at the station there before returning to Buckfastleigh between 21.30 and 21.45. The Wednesday and Thursday evenings now have limited seating available whilst there is plenty of room on Tuesday 04 December.

Full details of the event can be found on the website ( where a Reservation Form, Posters and Flyers can be downloaded. Also on the website is a report of last year’s event and pictures of the three evenings of ‘Carols Down the Line’ 2011.

We look forward to your joining us on what is a very special occasion.
