For the first time since March 2020 the South Devon Railway is hosting a steam gala, staring visiting locomotive No. 7820 “Dinmore Manor” along with 0-6-0 Pannier Tank No. 6430, recently returned to service from contract repairs, and home fleet locomotive 0-6-0 Pannier Tank No. 1369. With plenty of trains operating with authentic combinations of locomotive and carriage liveries, this promises to be a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the magic of steam in the crisp winter air.
Our main train will be formed of British Railways “Carmine and Cream” liveried carriages (shown as “BR” in table below), hauled by No. 7820. This train will also feature a buffet where free mince pies are available for every ticket holder. The buffet will also have on sale hot and cold drinks and light refreshments. Other services will be formed either of Great Western Railway (1833–1947)/British Railways “Chocolate and Cream” liveried carriages (shown as “GW” in table below), or a single carriage “Auto” train ( shown as “A” in table below ).
Return tickets are available at the usual fares and can be used for one round trip. Rover tickets are also available which give freedom to use as many services as you wish on one day. Return tickets purchased in advance on our website on carriage set “BR” feature reserved seating, tickets purchased on the day do not.
Customers are reminded that, in line with current law, wearing a face covering is a mandatory requirement when on-board trains, in station buildings or on platforms ( unless you are medically exempt ).
