We are in the middle of half term here: Family Fun Week on the SDR. Monday saw torrential rain all day, but the railway was actually quite busy, and especially the museum. Free activities for children, laid on by the SDRT Museum Support Group, plus face painting, were a big attraction. Both continue until Friday. A blue timetable, minus the 4.30pm departure from Buckfastleigh, and return, is operating.
New rail continues to arrive, and the latest consignment was delivered today. This is flat bottom, and destined for the section immediately on the Totnes side of Napper’s Crossing. It is proposed to relay about half a mile of track, and the new sleepers are expected shortly.
Staverton’s Steve Bates celebrated a big anniversary with a footplate ride on 1369: congratulations, and very many thanks to Steve and Sue for continuing to do a great job at Staverton.

Friday sees the Museum Support and Staverton Preservation Groups running a Museums at Night event, which starts at Buckfastleigh at 7.00pm, travels via Staverton and returns by 10.00pm. It promises to be great fun: do come along if you can (it costs a fiver, including the train ride). More news, and hopefully pix, after the event.
And finally;
Does anybody have a suitable caption for this photograph ??
