BBC Radio Devon’s David “Shep” Sheppard and David “Fitz” Fitzgerald took part in the “Miles for Money” challenge whereby they toured Devon on public transport.  As part of this the South Devon Railway helped by taking David Sheppard from Ashburton to Totnes.
The Ashburton to Buckfastleigh leg was operated by the Railway’s Routemaster ’bus, RM1872, as a rail replacement service since the original trackbed is now under the A38 Expressway.  BBC Radio Devon video of the ’bus arriving at Ashburton Bull Ring (opens is a new window)
