Just because daily public trains have stopped running doesn’t mean the South Devon Railway is dormant until next spring!
The South Devon Railway Association (SDRA) has had a team out on the line near Nursery Pool Bridge clearing back the undergrowth and saplings to ensure we do not suffer from “leaves on the line”.  The opportunity has been taken to clear through to the boundary fence so an external contractor can gain easy access to replace it.  Some of the fence still uses the old GWR split sleepers and so is well beyond its original design life.

In the Refreshment Rooms the “Elves” have been stirring.  Various members have been in helping to get the 3,800 presents wrapped in time for Santa’s annual visit to the Railway every weekend in December from Saturday 03rd to Sunday 18th December.  Santa is also on his train from Tuesday 20th to Friday 23rd December inclusive.
