SOUTH DEVON RAILWAY Museum Thursday 30th April 2015
Lynton and Barnstaple Railway by David Tooke
My apologies for the late notice of this meeting: I hope you will still be able to come along and support the SDRT Museum’s programme of Thursday evening meetings. On Thursday 30 April we are very pleased to welcome Dave Tooke, from the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway, who will be giving an illustrated talk about that line. You may have seen recently that they are about to submit a planning application for a major extension.
This meeting will be our first in our new venue – the enlarged mess room in SDR Engineering’s brand new extension. This is very much an experimental move, and I'm very grateful to Richard Elliott and Rob le Chevalier for all their help with this. Teas and coffees will still be available, and I'm investigating cake. There will be the usual prize draw. To get to it, simply park in the overflow car park at the back of engineering, and you will be able to get out afterwards.
The move has been necessitated by SDR PLC’s decision to start charging for use of the café, which would have amounted to £36 per meeting. We have declined their offer of revised terms.
